According to the Rhode Island Blood Center, the pandemic has created a chronic blood shortage across the country. The RIBC is asking for new blood donors to start giving, and for existing donors to donate more frequently (every 8 weeks for whole blood). To help, book an appointment online here.
Donation is safe! There is no data or evidence that COVID-19 can be transmitted by blood transfusion, and the RIBC is taking extra precautions and safety measures at donation centers. Donations are by appointment and walk-ins will only be taken if there is enough space conditions at the time.
