Author Talk: “Alma of Rag Town” by Johnette Rodriguez
Author Johnette Rodriguez discusses her book “Alma of Rag Town.” Molded from memories and sculpted from stories, this novel is set in rural Louisiana, 1914-1918. It’s early oil-boom country, with families driven by the gamble and the hope of a big strike. Rag Town was named for the canvas-and-wood tent houses of those families. In this coming-of-age tale, Alma faces up to the day-to-day challenges of a life in a tough place, at a tough time.
