{"id":47,"date":"2020-08-19T14:27:19","date_gmt":"2020-08-19T18:27:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.crossmills.org\/library\/?page_id=47"},"modified":"2020-09-22T13:49:16","modified_gmt":"2020-09-22T17:49:16","slug":"volunteers","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.crossmills.org\/library\/volunteers\/","title":{"rendered":"Volunteers"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In Praise of Volunteers<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.crossmills.org\/library\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_9429-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-672\" width=\"214\" height=\"285\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You might have noticed the bench by the entryway of the Library dedicated to the memory of Anne Johnson.&nbsp; But who was Anne Johnson?&nbsp; She, like many others who oftentimes go unheralded, was a volunteer at the Cross\u2019 Mills Public Library.&nbsp; A woman of keen intelligence, Anne spent her life in service to others.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After years of raising her children and working in school libraries, she brought her many talents to the Cross\u2019 Mills Public Library.&nbsp; She performed all types of library tasks and was also an active member of the book discussion group who purchased the bench in her honor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.crossmills.org\/library\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_5226-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-737\" width=\"220\" height=\"293\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The volunteers at the Cross\u2019 Mills Public Library are not just background support, they are often the leaders.\u00a0<\/strong> We rely upon them for all aspects of the library\u2019s functioning\u2014from working at the circulation desk to preparing materials for the children\u2019s program, from seeking items for the holds list to shelving books, from rearranging materials to cleaning windows.\u00a0\u00a0 However, most importantly, they bring life and laughter.\u00a0 Without our volunteers, the Library is only books and mortar.\u00a0 With them we are a community in the best sense of the word.
