Garden Tour Metamorphosis
In March, all of us at the CMPL were sad that 2020 would be the year without our semiannual Garden Tour Fundraiser.
Then we decided to go virtual.
As to the gardens, there were some of the usual suspects, gardeners who have graciously opened their gardens to our tours in the past, as well as a few newly discovered gems. But the nature of the Tour changed dramatically. After a bit of understandable, initial hesitation, this talented, personable and diverse group of people jumped in feet first to narrate their stories while meandering through their gardens. And what intriguing stories they have to tell! I never would have thought that the story of building, developing and maintaining a garden could be so mesmerizing!
This Virtual Tour has given the Gardeners the opportunity to tell our wonderful Videographer, Bob Petrone, their stories and we can all listen in with the gardens as the backdrop. We are so thankful to every one of them for taking the time to be filmed and for giving the earth such an amazing backdrop. If it is correct that “A Garden Locates you in Eternity” (Derek Jarman), then our gardeners will live forever…
